Let’s face it.

There’s a lot of laborious music out there. Optimized for maximum colonization of your ears. EQd within a decibel of your pain threshold. Slaved over in the studio sweatshops of a dying industry groaning for new sonic experiences, at the command of audio imperialists fearful of losing their hold on you. Mixer-tweaked until it shines like the vanadium steel tip of a missile aimed at your head.

All fine if that’s what you want.

At eigenvoid, we take the labor out of music.

We’re not against studio technology. We fucking love it. And we love fucking with it, too.

We won’t tell you electric guitars are superior to synthesizers, or inferior to acoustic instruments, or vice versa. We’ll use all of it.

But why’s it gotta take so damned long and be so damned boringly perfect?

It doesn’t.

Instant art is still art.

eigenvoids design philosophy is ludicrously simple. Plug in, turn on. Record some sounds. Loop them, multitrack them with some more sounds. Mix. Output to a file. Upload somewhere. Done.

Now do it again. And again.

No ambitions. No fantasies about making millions. No pretense everything’s going to be a hit. (Hah. Fuck, listen to what we make: no pretense ANYTHING’s going to be a “hit”. In what universe?) No clue what it’s going to sound like until we hear it ourselves. Sometimes it’s pretty, sometimes it’s weird. Big fucking deal. Don’t overthink it. Let it go. There is no art without trial and error. There is no music unless sound is set free. Set some sound free.

Plus it’s a fucking blast to just make loud shit. Or quiet shit. Or even something that’s not shit.

relax; it’s just weird noises.
